Congratulations to Troy High senior Omar Atasi and Troy Athens sophomore Anna Holt who participated in the Sutton Foster Awards at the Wharton Center last night!
Anna performed in a tribute to Grammy-winning musicals, and Omar performed "Who Am I" from Les Misérables in a character medley. They were also both featured in a production number and the finale.
Omar was selected as one of 8 finalists (out of 156 performers) and sang "Why, God, Why" from Miss Saigon, for which he was awarded a $1000 scholarship to pursue the performing arts.
In the Technical Theatre Honors, we were awarded the following for our production of Les Misérables:
Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Design (Greg Hodorek)
Outstanding Achievement in Stage Design (Jake Turner)
Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design (Vince Kelley)
Outstanding Achievement in Musical Direction (Adrienne Covian & Brian Nutting)

It was a wonderful evening showcasing the incredible talent of Michigan's high school performers.
MTI's All Together Now! was a global event celebrating the return of local theatre after the COVID pandemic. It was an opportunity for schools and theatres around the world to locally produce and perform an exclusive musical revue featuring songs from MTI's beloved shows. Athens Theatre Company and Troy Theatre Ensemble staged numbers from musicals including Fiddler on the Roof, Ragtime, Jekyll and Hyde, Rent, Newsies, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, Guys and Dolls, and Hairspray.
